What changes on November 1, 2026

Japan's tax-free shopping becomes a refund.

You pay the 10% consumption tax at the register. Customs confirms your purchases when you leave Japan, and the money comes back afterwards.

  • Refund figures are estimates before service fees, until each shop publishes its terms.
  • We never invent stock counts. If we don't have a store's data yet, the app says so.
  • Rules come from Japan's National Tax Agency, Japan Tourism Agency and the Japan Tax-free Shop Association.
